Since 1995, the ND Education Standards and Practices board (ESPB)Â maintains responsibility of teacher licensure, teacher education program approval, professional development and professional practices in North Dakota. Â This board operates independent of State funding with a board of ten educators, administrators, school board members, and teacher educators, with appointments made by the Governor for two 3-year terms.
The ESPB board offers a professional endorsement in STEM education to K-12 teachers in North Dakota. Â Upon completion this endorsement would demonstrate:
- competency in strategies that engage minds
- passion for facilitating effective learning strategies
- your signature on a commitment to develop the workforce of the future
The Great Plains STEM Education Center worked with the ESPB to establish this 12 credit program in selected content areas. Â To earn the endorsement, teachers can utilize course credit previously earned alongside graduate and undergraduate courses at VCSU and/or through professional development workshops that you have or will participate in.
